First I want to introduce myself as an illegal immigrant , so I will write by facts NOT by what some douchebags say . As an illegal immigrant I DO PAY TAXES and in a matter of fact MORE than a legal citizen . Every week I get deducted for social security (which I don’t have) , deducted for medicare (which in a way I DO NOT HAVE right to it) and all of a bunch of deductibles printed on my pay stub . Most funny of all is at the end of the year I only get a partial tax return , NOT what I should get if I was legal . SO WHO’S PAYING FOR WHO ?????? As an illegal I believe I’m paying for some douchebags that get paid by the government to stay home because they will NOT TAKE A JOB FOR $10.00 AN HOUR . About welfare , for everyone’s info I DO NOT HAVE RIGHT TO IT because I DO NOT HAVE a social . While I have to pay $1000.00 rent there’s a bunch of douchbags that can apply for section 8 and pay $40.00 rent because someone else (government) will pay for the rest . If I was a student I COULD NOT get a college degree cuz I can not go to college without a social unless I have over $50000.00 to pay for my college in full . It’s SAD to see people writing s*** without knowing the real facts . THERE’S CASES AND CASES , SO DO NOT JUDGE ALL ILLEGALS THE SAME . Everybody knows there some illegals will not do the things the right way but is the same way some Legal Citizens will also do wrong things to live good . Let’s put things this way : U.S. state prisons are packed with Afro-American people so all Afro-Americans are serial killers , thieves or drug dealers ?????? I don’t think so . This is ridiculous. First off you all need to either learn to spell or learn to utilize spell check. Most of you blabbering on about how if immigrants want to come to the United States they should do it legally, well let me tell you something. Immigrants are just like you and me, trying to find whats best for themselves and their families. If they had the ability to do so legally don’t you think they would? In Honduras one can only APPLY for a visa if they have money in the bank, a house, land, and a car. And the people who are blessed with all those coveted items are few and far between.

We just had a huge debate in my english class about this whole subject, and belive it or not everyone but me was against immigration. I was so disgusted by the end of it all. I am a 3rd generation American. My family immigrated to America Legally. In a 2002 study, illegals cost the federal government over twenty six point three billion dollars and paid only sixteen billion dollars in taxes. This would mean the government would have to make up for ten point four billion dollars. If the government were to giver illegals amnesty and they had access to the government services that legal immigrants have access to, the government would have to make up for twenty nine billion. That would increase the amount they are costing the federal government by 118%. Most of the costs are coming from Illegals with American born children. When an illegal has a child in the U.S., their child is an American citizen. This would grant the child access to government funded programs that their parents would not have access to. These are facts.
So I may be feeding the troll here, but its easier said than done. My parents have been applying to get residency here and the process is a long one. It will probably take 20 years. Seriously anyone saying that it’s easy is ignorant…
The thing most people seem to not get that while grouping illegals as criminals is wrong and while some do pay taxes there are still many who dont but get to use our systems like education, medical and so on. What gets me the most is illegals talking this and that about how they arent allowed social secruty and all that stuff, they forfeit that right when they the illegally come into america and as it is they are getting a heck of a lot. If anything paying a bit more would make sense for illegally coming in. It is unfair to all the immigrants that wait the time to do it legally.

I pretty much Love you. In my modern social issues class I’m writing a (late-whoops) paper in immigration and I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Immigrants coming to this country illegal is wrong. I do feel the only way to correct this situation is for the illegal immigrants that have been arrested for criminal activities, such as robbery and assault, deported back to their country while those who commit murder, should be viewed as terrorist and get the death penalty. For illegal immigrants that have been living here, raised a family and have been obeying the laws otherwise, should be given a chance of citizenship. I understand that people in other countries want better lives because things aren’t not good in their country. That is how the Americas were created because Europeans didn’t not like living under kings and queens. Of course, there were those just looking for economic gains, like illegal immigrants do as well. All in all, Everyone deserves a better life. Some American citizens take life here for granted so I would be happy to help anyone willing to benefit their family as well as America.

Like Filipe said in the beginning, judging all illegal immigrants as bad just because some of them where you live are criminals does not condemn all illegal immigrants in the nation to be criminals. That’s prejudice, very close to racism. I, for one, used to be an illegal immigrant because a lawyer screwed up our citizenship. We are not illegal immigrants because we’re “lazy.” We’re illegal immigrants because the cost to become a legal citizen is too much. We’re paying it, of course, but there’s also such a long pending. Like Astrid said above, his family is probably going to have to wait 20 years. Mine is most likely no different.
Also, it’s true that we have to pay so much more than legal citizens. Citizens are allowed medicare programs, grants for schooling, social security, and so much more. We don’t get that. And what about us not paying taxes? YES WE DO! AND A LOT! True, I may not be speaking for all illegal immigrants because some are truly “bad” not because they’re illegal immigrants, but just because that particular person is.
There are bad natural born Americans as there are good illegal immigrants. It’s not as black and white as it seems. We’re not illegal because we want to be. It’s the laws of the United States that prevent us from being a full citizen.
What do you think would happen to me if I went to Venezuela, Jordan, Cambodia or Colombia illegally? What if I protested in the street with a big sign that said, “Venezuelan government is Unfair to Illegal Gringos”. “Illegal Gringos have rights too! I am first generation American, my family came here legally and so should you. If it’s a long process, too bad. Take a sandwich and magazine to the US Embassy in your own country and wait in line. If the line is too long go to Ecuador, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, or any place where the line is shorter. This country was built by immigrants, not illegal aliens. They came here for a better life, not to scam the people that already live here.
Orion, I’m a seventeen year old undocumented student and it hurts to hear from people like you say such hurtful and unthoughtful things. I’m disgusted by the fact that you would think that people that cross the border, according to you, are lazy because they don’t obtain the proper documents in order to enter the United States legally. If you would just use your intellect and actually think don’t you believe that those people crossing the border would like to cross legally, instead of risking their lives? When I crossed the border with my mother I was three and from what I remember, and what my mother has told me we spent two days in the dessert, when the plan was to be there only half a day. Do you believe that with these conditions the “illegal immigrants” want to cross the border? I know you wouldn’t, because you wouldn’t like to undergo hours of walk and have nothing to eat, nonetheless nothing to drink, and almost to the brink of death. Can you imagine all the hardships one as an undocumented immigrant has to go through not only to cross the border, but when they actually cross through, all the crap they have to endure in the United States…and for what do you suppose, to intrude on others peace, to steal away jobs? Do you honestly believe that we’d sacrifice our lives and our happiness crossing the border to hurt others? That’s not what undocumented immigrants such as myself think, the only thing thought of at the moment is a chance for freedom, for a new life, for a chance to make dreams come true. Don’t deny people that chance; don’t be so narrow minded, have a heart. For the record it sucks not being able to be from the United State nor from Mexico. I believe that everyone needs to calm down. As the daughter of illegal immigrants, I have the struggle and the hard work put into having the best for one’s family. Weren’t the first arriving Americans immigrants too?
