According to the U.S. Census, the government estimates we now have eleven million illegal aliens in the United States. Of these, 6,640,000 are from Mexico alone. The true number may be much higher because many did not report in the census. The average amount each state spends to provide welfare, medical, food stamps and education alone is between eleven to twenty two billion dollars a year. This does not include the amount paid from the Social Security and Medicare fund to immigrants who have never worked a day in the U.S.!
We cannot sustain this bleeding off of our assets. Instead of helping a neighboring country to thrive, we are destroying the fiber of our country. On the news, a report showed bus loads of Mexican illegal aliens being dropped off every day in a city in Colorado on one of the main streets. Immigration must not have been tuned in that day because it still happens.
A meat packing plant has been raided several times and the illegal aliens are rounded up. The plant gets their hands slapped for a few days, but when the plant opens it is still staffed by illegal employees. There are many who can’t speak a word of English, yet police can not ask for an I.D. because that is profiling. Wonder how Homeland Security handles this? One person will get a job that offers medical insurance and allow his buddies to use it at the emergency room. If they are asked for I.D., they say they forgot it and they’ll bring it back. Never happens.
Or they simply go to the E.R. where they can’t be refused basic care, give phony information and we get higher insurance rates and medical costs to make up for it. Several of the legal immigrants send for their families. If they are of retirement age, they may get Social Security and Medicare (not one day of employment). And Habitat for Humanity evens builds new houses for illegal immigrants.
One bragged that last year he got back $12,000 on income taxes because he claimed his kids and a couple of his buddies let him claim theirs because they weren’t working. The kids had three different last names, but he got the money. Child tax credit—Yea! Have you heard that, even though they buy stolen social security cards (ever have your identity stolen—rack up the time and money) they do pay taxes. If I get my housing, utilities, gas vouchers, food and education free, I’d gladly pay half my wages in taxes.
The really sad part is, many Americans know its wrong and gripe about the government, but many don’t vote. Many more never write to their representatives (don’t even know who they are). We have a right to hire and fire, but don’t you think just griping about it over coffee is working fine for us?
This is not to say we should only do for U.S. Citizens, but Washington, please hold off on all this illegal immigration charity until this country can feed their own without selling our country to China. At that time, we are still willing to share! And by the way, Mr. Politician, where will your descendants live?
How easy it is for a faceless, nameless individuals to post such stats without naming where they got their facts or sources. I dare venture say, it’s mostly hogwash.
The real perpetrators here are the businesses that make such activity possible. Why not an expos’e on the root of the problem, instead of thrashing impoverished dire straits people merely trying to feed their families. How much food off your table are these disenfranchised stealing from you? Are you going to bed hungry at night ? Of course not. You remind me of a gluttonous dog with a stretched out belly who’ll reap another hungry dog who dares to try eat out of his bowl. You are pathetic.
@Robert (probably an illegal immigrant anyway) – I just love to see all the people come out and say, “where are your references”, “who are you talking about”. You’re probably one of the same people who would be screaming if there were references. You can’t have it both ways. Even though there isn’t any specific finger pointing in this article, I’m 100% positive that this goes on in America on a daily basis. I’m glad that there are people out there who care enough about American illegal immigration to do something about it. Just like there are many illegals like you who will milk our system for all it’s worth.
People make it seem like illegals live happy evil lives, “milking the government for all it’s worth,” do you have any idea how hard their life is? Do you really think their purpose is to just steal all the money, I’ve lived around illegals my whole life, they’re some of the most hardworking people I’ve ever met. Many don’t even know of the benefits you can get from the government, and here people are, accusing illegals of mastermind plotting to just steal from the government. People that come just want a better life, a chance to live without fear of going hungry, or a chance to escape the ridiculously high crime rates of Mexico. In my opinion, Americans cannot complain about people coming into “their” country. Read a history book and learn what horrible things you did to get your beloved country. Sure America is a great country today, and I’m proud to say that I live in America, I’m proud to say that I’m an American citizen, but it would be highly hypocritical of me to complain about people coming into my country. Just put yourself in their shoes for a day, see how tired you are when you come home from a 12+ hour day of working in the fields.
Let’s face it. Our Federal Government has failed all of us in not enforcing our immigration laws. Look at how many anchor babies, (illegal alien children), the American taxpayers have paid for. Was it about 4.2 million over the last 16-18 years? Maybe this is something that should be written about. Then we have to school these illegal alien children, the parents (parent) go on welfare, get food stamps, public housing and everything else. What does this cost the American taxpayer? How about the stolen identities, forged documents and fake green cards. Well, you can’t blame the illegal aliens completely. We do have these UNAMERICAN people who hire these illegal aliens. Of course we have these illegal alien students who are DEMANDING we pass the DREAM Act so we can pay for their college tuition. How about the demonstrations of these illegal aliens DEMANDING we give them amnesty. Who do these people think they are? They have no right to be in this country, yet they are DEMANDING, yes, DEMANDING we give them amnesty. Well, I am DEMANDING we get our immigration laws ENFORCED! Look at the costs of deporting these illegal aliens. Look at the costs of the trials and jailing of these illegal aliens. Look at the costs of the law suits by la raza, the aclu and now the DOJ. Oh, don’t forget the Catholic Church. Look at the BILLIONS sent out of this country by the illegal aliens. How does that help America? When is this all going to end? I will tell you. It will end when we get rid of all the illegal aliens. That’s when.
I lived in a town on the border where many of my friends were illegal or their parents were. Some of these families had very nice vehicles (e.g. Corvette, Porche, and other high end sports cars or expensive vehicles) and most had 3-4 of the, yet they still somehow received complete coverage by the government for their food, residence and medical needs. Most of these friends received full ride scholarships or grants and scholarships that covered all college expenses because of their “heritage” though many of them barely passed. All this made me feel bitter since my family and I received no such assistance.
I have seen how the system is abused by illegal immigrants, so I know that it is happening. I would still like to know some sources for the numbers though. I can’t imagine that this is all insider information. It has to be recorded somewhere where the public has access to it, the question is where are the numbers being buried in an effort to prevent the public at large from knowing the truth.
So called statistics as represented on both sides (at least the ones I’ve seen), even without the sources, suggest that illegal immigrants cost about 3-4 times as much tax dollars as they bring in. Still I would love to know the source of the numbers, for both how much they bring in as well as how much they cost, so that I can see the numbers myself.
We cannot blame the illegal aliens themselves for coming to America. We need the government to protect our borders. Let the immigrants come, but, be sure that they do it legally.
What needs to be done is the elimination of all these welfare programs. How many Americans do you know that live off of welfare without so much as even trying to get a job?
It is unconstitutional for the United States government to allow our borders to sit unprotected. The Constitution specifically states that it is the duty of the federal government to protect the citizens of this country from all outside dangers. Aliens crossing the southern border illegally kill 12 American citizens every day. Many people along the Mexican-American border live in terror of the drug runners.
We cannot blame the border patrol because they are not allowed to do their duty. They are not supplied with the man power or the equipment that is needed to secure the border. At times, they are forced to sit and watch drug cartels enter the U.S. because they are severely outgunned.
Also, the government refuses to take the back of our border patrol guards. Remember the two who were arrested and tried for murder because they shot some drug dealers who fired upon them?
Honestly, reading stuff like this frustrates me SOO much. Like Kevin said, do you honestly think undocumented individuals living in the U.S. are TRYING to scam the government or something? You’re right, we have a broken immigration system- of that I have NO doubt. But quit trying to generalize every immigrant. There’s children who were brought here when they were young, know NO other home, and get deported. There’s people who came here trying to escape poverty or violence; people who are just looking for a better life! And don’t think people want to be here illegally. I know plenty of undocumented individuals who want to get their citizenship desperately, but the process takes a really long time – I personally know people who have been waiting for up to 17 years. And it’s not easy to get them, a lot of people are rejected.
Just THINK about it for a second. Think about how TERRIBLE it would be to live in constant fear in a country you call your home. To have to worry about being deported all the time! You can’t have a license. You can’t travel. You can’t even stick up for yourself if an employer treats you badly. Undocumented workers are exploited EVERYDAY. Without papers, you don’t have a VOICE!
And finally- all this stuff about how their draining our economy? Guess what?? THEY’RE CONSUMERS TOO!! They’re contributing to the economy, and EVERYONE pays some form of tax. There’s also ways to file taxes even if you don’t have a SSN, and ALOT of undocumented people file their taxes. I get it- not EVERYONE does. But generalizing immigrants the way you’re doing in this, ISN’T fair. Try and put yourself in their shoes. We need immigration reform. Give people the opportunity to do things legally.

How many sneak in by over extending their visas? They get tourist visas and simply stay here. INS dedicates nothing to seek them out. All the talk is on the Rio Grande, but the majority are entering at first legally, than illegally staying. The only result of a poverty migration, is that this poverty culture will also accompanying the immigrants and their families. The dilemma is to protect your country without appearing bigoted. And you have to act boldly or the immigrant will take advantage of your soft heartedness. Mexico has two coastlines, vast oil reserves, dollars wired back home, superb beach tourism….and yet they keep the population in abject poverty, and uneducated. I say if we open our borders, so should Mexico. The world is becoming globalized. So be it. Pass Dream Acts and open up the borders–BUT ASK MEXICO TO DO THE SAME!!! Maybe my son can study Agriculture at the Universidad de Guadalajara as a ‘nacional.’
