Mexico being a neighbor doesn't mean anything. In fact, they're such a BAD neighbor that I think they're lucky we make *any* visa's available to them. *Very* bad neighbors who actively ignore and abuse our laws, undermine our social order, and demand that we not persue or punish their citizens who have snuck into our country. Proximity doesn't entitle them to 'special status'. That designation should be reserved for allies who actually respects us. What is this ‘special status’ bullcr*p? Before applying for college financial aid I have to have proper identification and legal status for my children and I expect the same from all people that benefit from our tax system. If your status has illegal in front of it then that should be self explanatory. My husband was a construction superintendent that the majority of subcontractors were of Mexican ancestry, he said they were hard working and enjoyed working with them. But he also said that the majority said they were working here and sending the majority of their money back home. Well exactly how is this helping our economy? I do believe that you should help others, but you should help your own first and whatever is left over can then be spent helping others. How do you think the 55 year old man who owes 5 years on his mortgage but now finds himself unemployed and homeless feels? Illegal immigrants CAN'T get scholarships,and therefore are NOT stealing your daughters opportunities in life. They also CAN'T get your daughter's future job, and are willing to pay taxes, and do things the right way if given the chance.
